Veterans Camping Trip in Floyd, IA

Ruck Iowa will be hosting a camping trip for veterans and [adult] guest who are 18+ in Floyd, IA. The event will take place from 3:00PM Friday, May 15 - Sunday, May 17 at Noon. Participants are welcome to camp in a tent and spend the whole weekend with us or come and go as they please. There will be many outdoor activities as well including a fire building competition, scavenger hunt, hiking, and more! Meals will be provided with the exception of lunch.

Directions:

Navigate to Reiff’s Farmstand, located North of Floyd, IA. Once there, follow the provided map on our website. It is tucked back in the timber but the route will be marked to help with navigation. 

Packing List:

• Tent

• Sleeping bag / equipment

• Weather appropriate clothing

• Rain gear

• Insect repellant

• Water bottle

• Hiking shoes / comfortable walking shoes

• Flashlight / headlamp

• Portable power station / phone charger

• Small cooler with beverages and snacks

• Toiletries, including towel and shower shoes

• Meals will be provided except lunch will be on your own. Pack items easy to eat while participating in activities.

NEW Hike Event: Help Us Plan!

A few board members are working hard to coordinate a new veterans hike event in AMES, IA. There will be a hike recon taking place during the weekend of May 30th. If you are interested in participating in this hike recon or would like to be apart of the planning committee, please reach out via email to bailyklammer@ruckiowa.com . The actual veterans hike event will take place on August 15, 2026
