Ruck Iowa's mission is to facilitate fun physical events for veterans, develop lasting relationships, promote positive mental health, and build camaraderie.

Our Vision

Build a strong community of veterans and active duty military members throughout the state of Iowa so that no veteran will need to feel alone.

Our "Why"

After their time of service, veterans can face many struggles returning to civilian life. There are approximately 158,900 veterans who live in the state of Iowa (usafacts.org).

3.5% face unemployment, many of which are our younger veterans.
22.3% have a service related disability rating (veteransdata.info).
Many veterans struggle with mental health resulting in approximately 16.8 deaths by suicide per day throughout the country (mentalhealth.va.gov).
Out of the total suicides throughout the state of Iowa, 13% are veterans (https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov)

Rural states and smaller communities can often be overlooked, but there is still a strong need for veteran support in Iowa. Ruck Iowa aims to support veterans by providing them with physical activities and promoting positive mental health habits. Bringing people together who have similar experiences can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.
